Late May and we have two little cherry tomatoes ready to pick! It looks like it will be a good year for tomatoes! Let's hope our garden does as well as these tomatoes.

Rainwater Regatta
Jonah's pack meeting this month was dedicated to the rainwater regatta. Instead of the usual wooden boats that are worked on individually at home, the leaders came up with a really ingenious idea to do instead. The boys were able to carve their own boats out of styrofoam, color a sail to be stuck on by their choice of one or two sticks and pick from a variety of mascots (ranging from trees to cheetahs to cockroaches) to lead their boat to victory. Amazingly, siblings were allowed to also make and race their own boats, so Sariah and Katie John happily carved and colored.
Jonah says,"The rainwater regatta was SO fun because we got to carve our boats and that I won!"
WELL, actually we had two winners in our family! Katie John took the silver and Jonah took the gold in best boat design. Jonah didn't make the finals in the races, but did miles better than last year so we are super proud.

Memorial Day
Memorial Day Monday started out early with a huge pancake breakfast complete with homegrown bacon, blueberry waffles and very delicious strawberries. John and my brothers James & David went to see Star Trek while a few of us went off to Pleasant Grove Cemetery to scrub headstones of Grandpa's buried there. Christina & Justin got there first and had already started scrubbing Justin's Grandpa's headstone. Katie John & Sariah helped with Grandpa Kermit's headstone with much enthusiasm.

With the pool freshly filled, Christina & Justin invited everyone over for a swim. All the kids had a blast and the "big boys" had a good game of chicken going on with Anna and Julie. Sariah kicked around the pool testing her knee out. She seemed to be doing fine which gave her the green light to start swim lessons the next day.

The final activity of the day was a potluck wienie roast at Uncle James and Carie's house. The kids enjoyed roasting hotdogs over an open fire as well as eating chips and more tub-o-roni. Immediately after dinner marshmallows were made available for roasting. What a nice end to a very busy weekend!!
