Party time! I'm happy to report that the baby shower was a super awesome time! Thanks to all the family and friends that showed up with presents AND diapers! We played some super fun games that were not lame at all. The first game started the moment you got there with a pacifier trinket necklace. Any time you got caught saying the word cute, you had to give up your necklace and any you'd collected from others. I was doing really well until the gift opening, then I was doomed!
My sister Emily made a diaper cake... see it in the picture below? Here's a funny story... Emily leaves early for the shower, her car packed up with all the shower stuff. My mom and Julie left a bit later. They get in the car and start backing up, then seeing a black trash bag in the middle of the driveway they stop to check it out. Hmm... what could that be? They walk over to inspect ... Lo and Behold it's the diaper cake!! It must not have gotten packed in with all the rest of the shower items like Emily had thought. They called Emily declaring they'd found the cake! Funny enough, they didn't even know it was missing yet! Good job for being curious about strange black bags in the driveway and saving the diaper cake!
The other great game we played was a matching game. Katie (my sister-in-law) put a board together with carefully folded white felt "diapers" each with a numbered card sticking out the top. Each card had baby or pregnancy related words on them. When you got a match you won a corresponding candy. Some really fun examples are: baby girl = BabyRuth, Conception = Skor, Epidural = lifesavers, breastfeeding = milky way, contractions = good and plenty, baby boy = Mike n' Ike and the list goes on. It was the funnest baby shower game I'd ever played! The food was wide assortment of fresh fruits, muffins and mini sandwiches. The cake was purchased as a gift by my Grandma Betty. She had recently had a surgery which was going to keep her from the shower. At the last minute she decided to come and share in the celebration. What a great surprise that was! I had a really great time visiting and opening all the wonderfully cute baby items! Thank you to Uncle Dan and Shelly for opening their home. A big thank you to Christina, Katie and Emily for putting together such a great baby shower! I am feeling blessed!
